WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE PROF DR KORAY TEKİN?
Prof. Dr. Koray TEKİN completed his medical and general surgery specialty education at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. In the same year, he successfully passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination and in 1998, he had the opportunity to meet laparoscopic obesity surgery, which was just developing even in the United States, at Yale University. Dr. TEKİN worked in the Liver Transplantation Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in England for 1 year in 2003.
In 2005, Dr. TEKİN was promoted to Associate Professor and due to his interest in obesity surgery, he had the opportunity to work with the best names in the field at Princeton and Cornell Universities in 2007. It is a pleasant coincidence that he was the only Turkish surgeon who participated in the consensus meeting held in New York for the first time in the world about the most common 'sleeve gastrectomy'.
He was the first surgeon to perform laparoscopic duodenal switch surgery in 2012. Prof. TEKİN, who has contributed to the training of many surgeons in obesity surgery, has reduced the risk of leakage and bleeding to almost zero with the special 'suture technique' he applied in sleeve gastrectomy surgery.
Is Prof. TEKIN's surgery technique different?
Prof. Dr. Koray TEKİN has been performing sleeve gastrectomy since 2008. Apart from applying the standard technique accepted in the world, he has been applying the 'continuous suture technique', which provides a second security on the staple line, which he has developed himself since 2015. Thanks to this suture, the feared complications of gastric sleeve surgery such as leakage and bleeding have been reduced to almost non-existent levels.
Thanks to this special suture technique, our patients do not need a drain catheter and they are able to walk on their own in the 2nd hour after surgery. Less postoperative pain is the most prominent feature of this technique.
